Hvað er að frétta Gemma ?
Whats going on in your life Gemma ?
At the moment quite a lot and I love it that way!! Busy busy!! Benedikt and I are just starting Super Gym - "Keeping Iceland Strong" in Hafnarfjörður. I am also trying to promote Strong Woman as a sport across the globe, and will be soon starting a campaign to get women into the weight section of the gym!! Plus I am just getting ready to fly back to Britain to compete in Britain's Strongest Woman on Saturday.
- What are you doing through the day ;
I have a 1 year old son and a great husband so feeding is first in line. Both Benedikt's have the same taste in food so it makes life easier! All be it, Benedikt Little eats a considerably smaller amount than his daddy!! Then after the first meal of the day we start putting all the finishing touches to the gym, have lots of fun play with BÍB (Benedikt Ísfeld) and of course train ourselves! I am also a personal trainer so I have clients throughout the day too. I have to spare some time also to my exercise consultancy work, answering alot of fitness questions from women across the globe with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome, and when I can try and complete my second book. Come to think of it I haven't watched TV for a long time!
- Tell us about Super Gym that you recently opened with Benni
Super Gym is the best gym I have ever trained in! Even though I am biased because I run it haha, it really is great! Both Benedikt and I have competed and been in the industry for many years and we really love helping people evolve and succeed in their goals. We have all sorts of people that come to Super Gym and everyone is just great! We have created a place with no limits and a fantastic spirit, and it really does feel great!
- I heard you are going to compete at Britain's Strongest Woman this weekend. How many times have you won?
I have won the Britain's twice so far. In 2005 I came second in the Worlds Strongest Woman Competition. I competed last in 2006. 2007 and 2008 I took off to have our baby.
How do you think your gona do at the competition ?
I always feel strong, that is just my nature :) although since living in Iceland I feel even stronger than before!!
-When are u going and is anyone going with you?
I am leaving Friday and competing on Saturday. Bíb is coming with.
- Tell us how you came up with the idea of hosting Icelandic Strongest Woman.
Iceland is without a doubt the strongest nation on this planet! Never before have I ever seen such an amazing amount of mental and physical strength. This is not just in the men either, the women are just so strong. After seeing alot of women becoming interested in getting stronger (especially at the Sunnamót - 21 girls must be some sort of world record!) - my natural reaction was to see who was the strongest! Strong Woman as a sport is great fun. It combines all sorts of elements, fitness, strength, endurance, speed and more! Any woman from any background could compete in strong woman and because the events are all so different the strongest one always wins!

It is a great way to get into shape and to keep fit, plus if you love food it is an awesome excuse to eat more of it!! haha!!
Strength really is the new "beautiful" and I encourage any woman to give it a try whatever shape they are in, Strong Woman is for everyone!
Big hugs of "strongness"
